| About Samsung Cameras & Their History |
| |
| Although it is currently recognized as a commanding
contender in the booming U.S. digital camera market, it might
surprise some to know that Samsung has actually been manufacturing
cameras since the early 1980's. The division was actually founded
1977 as an extension of Samsung Aerospace. Its 35mm cameras
at that time were recognized for their fine technology and optical
innovations in such things as auto focus and zoom capabilities. |
In the mid 90's Samsung Camera introduced the worlds first 4X
zoom camera. In the later 90's it introduced the world's smallest
2X zoom 35mm camera, and also began offering its first digital
cameras.
In 1989, Samsung Camera entered the North American market where
numerous world-class camera companies had already established
their brand position and seemingly left little room for expansion.
For Samsung, that has not been the case: Since then, the sophisticated
electronics savvy, optics knowledge and design creativity for
which Samsung is renowned, have resulted in the steady introduction
of a series of fine 35mm cameras, and truly remarkable Digimax
digital cameras. In only 13 years, Samsung Camera has established
itself in the top 5 position in the market -- offering a diverse
product line equipped with the most sought after features.
Today, Samsung continues its heritage of innovation. Most recently,
the new U-CA series of compact cameras are the first in the
world to offer a personalized avatar capability that allows
the owner to create an animated image within the camera. Always
a leader in optics, Samsung cameras usually include a bonus
of excellent macro, or close-up picture taking-capabilities.
In addition to taking excellent still and video pictures, the
new V50 camera also has a document copying feature, and adapts
to 9 different power sources (another world first) -- making
it an excellent companion for the business/professional person
on the go.
Samsung products are available in major retailers throughout
the country and worldwide. For the future, Samsung will continue
to fine tune its marketing strategies continue vigorous R&D
efforts. New bold dealer and consumer programs are being launched
regularly.
